Yes — completely free. There's no subscription, no account to create, and no in-app purchases. Just download it and go.

JellyBar runs on macOS 15 Sequoia and later, on Apple Silicon Macs. It's notarized by Apple, so it installs cleanly with no Gatekeeper warnings.

Not yet — native notch support is in active development. For now, use your MacBook in clamshell mode with an external display, or set a non-notched external as your primary display, and JellyBar runs with all of its features. We'll announce notch support when it ships.

Perfectly, with every feature — reorder, hide/show, group, and back up your menu bar. With the lid closed the notch is out of the picture. It's a first-class, fully supported setup.

Accessibility is the only required permission. JellyBar uses it to read your menu bar item identities and to move icons so the bar matches your saved layout. Without it, JellyBar can't arrange anything. It's never used to read screen contents or keystrokes.

No — it's entirely optional. Screen Recording is used only to capture a small preview of each icon's glyph so it looks right in the settings window. If you decline it, JellyBar simply falls back to each app's Dock icon and works exactly the same otherwise.

No. JellyBar has no analytics, no telemetry, and makes no network requests. Your layout and backups stay on your Mac — and in your own iCloud Drive only if you turn on iCloud backups. See the privacy policy for the full details.

Drag any icon into the Hidden bar in JellyBar's settings to tuck it away. To peek at hidden icons, hover over the menu bar strip (with a configurable delay so a casual mouse sweep doesn't pop it), or click the chevron «. Clicks always reveal instantly.

Yes. JellyBar saves an automatic backup on every change (the newest 30 are kept) plus any manual snapshots you pin, which are kept forever. Each one is restorable in a single click and can be mirrored to iCloud Drive, so your arrangement is never more than a click away.

Yes. JellyBar checks for updates in the background and prompts you before installing, so you're always on the latest version — no manual downloads to hunt for. If you installed with Homebrew, brew upgrade --cask jellybar works too.

We'd love to hear it. Open a support ticket or email support@jellybar.app with the details — including your macOS version and what you were doing — and we'll take a look.
